THE SCOTTISH BORDERS

The Scottish Borders is perfectly positioned as perhaps the easiest destination in Scotland to visit Edinburgh & The Lothians lie to the north, Dumfries & Galloway to the west and Northumberland in northern England  UNESCO World Heritage Site Hadrians Wall & to the south

The stunning scenery is to be seen, from rolling hills and open countryside in the west to the gentle valleys and picturesque Berwickshire coastline in the east. The region is defined not only it’s landscape as it is by its spellbinding abbeys, such as  Melrose, Jedburgh, New Abbey awe-inspiring stately homes, Drumlanrigh & castles,  Floors Castle Kelso, close to home Hermitage & Caerlaverock  castles & the time-honoured m  & truly unique Common Ridings, local to us is Langholm Common Riding, held the last Friday in July each year.  These lands also inspired the great works of literary greats as Sir Walter Scott and John Buchan.

Pheasant Lodge is situated between UNESCO World Heritage Site The Lake District and UNESCO World Heritage Site Northumberland National Parks,  close to the Scottish Border, therefore there is no shortage of this to do, providing an opportunity for many outdoor pursuits. The area steeped in Viking & Roman history & stories of old, with beautiful rugged, landscape & fells, ideal for walks, cycling & flying tours which are all fully accessible within a short drive. However, the immediate area has a distinctive Border character of its own & is steep in a very turbulent history, of the #Border Reivers, remains of which can still be seen today the many castles, Pele towers & fortifications.

UNESCO World Heritage Site Hadrians Wall is a short drive, with an array of archaeological remains, Lanercost Priory & Tea Room,  Roman Forts of Birdoswald, Vindolanda & Chesters & Museum
