Pheasant Lodge is situated between the Lake District and Northumberland National Parks, close to the Scottish Border, therefore there is no shortage of this to do,providing opportunity for many outdoor pursuits.The area steeped in Viking & Roman history & stories of old, with beautiful rugged, landscape & fells, ideal for walks, cycling & flying tours which are all fully accessible within a short drive. However the immediate area has a distinctive Border character of its own & is steep in a very turbulent history, remains of which can still be seen today the many castle, pele towers & fortifications.
Cycles can be hired locally from ‘Bike Seven’ on a daily or weekly basis,we can arrange this for you and have them waiting on your arrival, & secure storage is provided for you. You can explore the Border Reivers Cycle route where you can,explore this fascinating history region on The Reivers Trail, you will also encounter walkers and horse riders along the way.. Or for the more adventurous why not try ‘The Seven Stane’s mountain bike trails at nearby Newcastleton or Whinlatter , We are also close to Sustran’s route 7 & route 74 Carlisle to Glasgow which is a newly established route, Coast to Coast routes,or why not cycle along side The Roman Wall” on the #Hadrian’s cycle route.
You can relax & explore the #Netherby Woodland Trails within 20 yards of #Pheasant lodge,part of the #Netherby Estate & enjoy the beautiful woodland walks, wildlife deer, red squirrels, wood peckers etc which live their.There are walks along the banks of the #river Esk from the attractive 18th bridge perfect to #explore spectacular woodland .#wildlife & #pony trekking.

Newcastle an hour’s drive away has seen significant development in recent years, especially around the quayside. The acclaimed Millennium Bridge connecting Newcastle and Gateshead allows people to walk from Newcastle to the Baltic Art Gallery and the Sage Gateshead music venue. A short drive away in Gateshead is the Metro Centre shopping centre.
